  • 1. AMENITIES?Casa Ostional has two large master suites, each with a private bathroom, and a large loft area with a bathroom for additional guests. It also features a modern kitchen, and a large dining and living room area with magnificent views of the Pacific. There are three porches; the main porch measures 20 X 12 feet.↑ Return to top
  • 2. SAFETY/SECURITY?Our on-site staff is available 24 hours a day to look after the property and to assist you with any issue that may arise. The house is equipped with a basic first aid kit; medical care is available in Nosara and Santa Cruz. The house is in a private and secluded area but lock/stow items in your vehicle and use common sense when traveling in Ostional and surrounding areas.For the safety of the forest and wildlife, smoking is not permitted.

  • 3. WATER/POWER?Casa Ostional has a private well which provides refreshing water to the residence. Additionally, there is large reservoir which provides water in the event of a power outage. The house is equipped with a large capacity washing machine, a gas stove and a large refrigerator. There is hot water for showers and laundry. Please use the hose on the walkway to clean your feet to keep sand out of the house and please do not use the bath towels at the beach - bring beach towels.↑ Return to top
  • 4. TELEPHONE?Our staff has a cellular telephone which can be used for local calls. If you need to make a long distance call, please purchase calling cards when you arrive in San Jose or Liberia. Internet services are available in Nosara or Santa Cruz but Casa Ostional is about freeing yourself from the intrusion of modern technology and taking the time to relax. If you bring a book or two to read while you are at Casa Ostional, we ask that you leave them on our bookshelf for the next guests to enjoy. There is a TV/DVD player in the house so you may want to bring a few DVDs to entertain young children or just watch a movie.↑ Return to top
  • 5. GARBAGE?The staff will dispose of the garbage if you bag it up for them; however, please separate biodegradable items from other garbage.↑ Return to top
  • 6. ANIMALS/INSECTS?There are no dangerous animals but you may get a visit from some howler monkeys. They are harmless and fun to watch. If you are lucky, you’ll also see turtles, deer, kotimundi, a variety of birds, and others during your trip. Insects usually don’t pose a problem because of the strong breeze off the Pacific Ocean but the house in enclosed in glass and screens to keep critters out.↑ Return to top
  • 7. RESTAURANTS?Plan on eating in mostly, but there are several restaurants in close driving distance. The restaurants at Hotel Luna Azul and Sanctuary Hotel are the closest and are very good.↑ Return to top
  • 8. EATING IN?Meals are provided at $25.00/day per guest and alcoholic beverages are provided slightly above cost (please specify what you would like and we will be sure to have it on hand). Casa Ostional features a 20 X 12 foot porch which is perfect for outdoor dining and enjoying views of the jungle and the Pacific Ocean.↑ Return to top
  • 9. WHAT TO DO?Swimming, fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, hiking, horseback riding, turtle and bird watching, or nothing at all. You may choose to take side trips along the coast. If you plan on staying for more than a week, you may want to plan a trip to the Arenal Volcano.↑ Return to top
  • 10. TRANSPORTATION/GUIDES?We offer transportation to and from the house as well as tours (fishing, scuba, snorkeling, horseback riding, turtle watching, and shopping to name a few) with a bilingual and knowledgeable guide. These services are provided at minimal cost per person. Let us know what trips you are interested in and we will provide you the price options (i.e. fishing - hourly, 1/2 day, full day). If you choose to rent a vehicle, we recommend a four-wheel-drive SUV. Most major rental agencies do business in Costa Rica and you may get a better rate booking when you purchase your airline tickets. Shuttles from the airport to the rental agencies are available.↑ Return to top
  • 11. BRING?Plenty of beachwear, beach towels, sun screen, insect repellent, camera (extra batteries), and passport with photocopies. Bring a light jacket for cool evenings and if you plan on visiting the Arenal Volcano a warmer jacket or sweater.↑ Return to top
